UMVA MUHAZI TENNIS PROGRAMME

UMVA MUHAZI TENNIS PROGRAMME

How It Started

What began in September 2024 as a small idea beside the shores of Lake Muhazi has quickly grown into one of our community’s most engaging activities.

The UMVA Muhazi Tennis Programme was created with a simple goal: to open the world of tennis to neighbouring children, many of whom had never even seen a racket before.

In just 15 months, it has created a shared sense of belonging, introduced a new way of bonding, and unlocked a remarkable level of athletic skill and discipline.

COACHING & MENTORSHIP

At the heart of the programme are our local coaches, Boris and Jado, whose consistency and dedication keep the children learning, improving, and showing up each week.

The programme is also strengthened by periodic training sessions from Coach Eric, Head of the Rwanda Tennis Federation, offering a valuable level of mentorship and national-level guidance.

THE PROGRAMME TODAY

The UMVA Muhazi Tennis Programme has grown into a consistent weekly training programme for 24 young athletes aged 6 to 14, building confidence, discipline, and teamwork on court.

Programme overview: 24 young athletes. Ages: 6 to 14, Weekly training sessions of 3 hours long.

Sport and Education

The UMVA Muhazi Tennis Programme is about more than learning tennis.

We encourage each child to show commitment to school as part of their participation in the programme because discipline is developed through everyday habits, in class, at home, and during training.

3% Cover the Fee

Every week, this programme creates a space where children build confidence, discipline, and belonging through sport and learning.

If you would like to be part of its growth, your contribution will support training sessions, equipment, uniforms, and mentorship for the children in the UMVA Muhazi Tennis Programme.
